Submissions
We love Non-fiction from southeast Asia.
If your work challenges a received narrative, recovers something overlooked, or simply insists on being told, we'd love to read it. We work closely with our authors because we care about the work, not just the book. So if you think your project might be a fit, don't wait until it's perfect — reach out and tell us what you're working on.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome submissions at hello@faction.press.
Please send us your full manuscript, your CV, and a 100-word summary of your project. We ask for a full manuscript rather than a partial one because we find it's the only way to properly assess a work — and we want to give yours a fair read.
Please use the subject line: [Title of manuscript], [Your name].
You'll receive an acknowledgement when your submission arrives. Because we receive a high volume of work (and are a very small team), we read your summary and cover materials first and will let you know within 5–10 working days whether we'll be proceeding to a full manuscript review. F
or submissions we take forward, please allow four to six months for us to read, discuss and come back to you. Timelines can vary — the second half of the year and festival seasons tend to be busier across the Southeast Asian publishing circuit, and our own schedule shifts with each season.
Simultaneous submissions are fine. You're welcome to mention this in your cover letter / email — it sometimes helps publishers prioritise their reading.
A Note on the Use of AI
We believe in human-authored work. AI tools are fine for brainstorming or administrative tasks, but any AI-generated content incorporated into your manuscript must be disclosed in your submission.
