We have always wanted to chronicle the creation and journeying of such portals through creative non-fiction narratives in our region, but with a specific focus on narratives that deal with the themes of history, memory and grief. Behold, this tiny but mighty zine, Undertow.
In this inaugural issue, five writers — Miên Túc, Linda Collins, Loy Sye Yuet, Shradha Biyani and Lawrence Ypil — ruminate on topics such as family and death; the evolution of self and belonging through physical departures, and, more importantly, how the great sweep of time sometimes forces people to reckon with the price of loving anything — be it a person, creature, place, memory, feeling, culture or language.
