For our first book for 2025, we are so very pleased to announce the publication of The Missing Anthology: Stories from Singapore's Sex Workers.
Born from an open call and writing workshops organised by Project X — the only non-profit organisation in Singapore that provides social, emotional, and health services to people in the sex industry — this collection of pieces has been edited by Project X's Vanessa Ho, Raksha Mahtani & nor.
In this book, you’ll find pieces from fifteen bold voices on the importance of activism and its obstacles; short fiction exploring fantasies of violent liberation; and tender letters to loved ones and younger selves that reflect on their journeys and how far they’ve come.
Project X first launched the anthology in 2023 as The Missing Anthology: Jalan Besar Volume, the product of an open call and writing workshops held by Project X and supported by Sing Lit Station’s Jalan Besar Fellowship. This new edition contains nine new pieces that add to a volume that daringly experiments with form, genre, and perspective.

The Missing Anthology is a little different from previous Faction Press publications, in that there is a mix of fiction with fact in some pieces. However, it's in line with our goal of publishing more Southeast Asian voices and bringing them to the fold and forefront of Southeast Asian literature.

The paperback edition of The Missing Anthology is available at the following bookshops:
Singapore: Kinokuniya Singapore and Book Bar. United Kingdom: Round Table Books (available from late March)
Poland: Tajfuny (available from late March/early April)
If you're elsewhere around the world, we will fulfil your orders via our webstore as soon as we can! Last but not least, If you wish to purchase the e-book, you can purchase them via Kindle (US), Barnes & Noble (US), Kindle (UK), Kindle (Japan) and Kobo (SG).

Our launch at Book Bar on 9 March was a huge success (many thank-yous to the approximately 70-80 people who came by and did not mind being packed like sardines)! Our next event will be at City Book Room on 5 April at 3pm (limited slots are available). Do follow us (@factionpress) and Project X (@projectx.sg) on Instagram for the most up-to-date news.
